The spread of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) including cardiovascular diseases (CVD), diabetes, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and mental health represents one of the greatest development challenges of the 21st century. The global burden of NCDs is disproporonally higher in low and-middle income countries (LMICs), with 90% of largely preventable, NCD related premature deaths occurring in LMICs.
